Our teachers have all taken the Six Blades instructor course to ensure quality. Yes. Jiu Jitsu is a martial art based on using leverage, which allows the weaker and lighter individual to beat the stronger and heavier opponent. For this reason Jiu Jitsu is recommended for everyone regardless of your physical condition, age or size.

Training Jiu Jitsu will help improve your physical condition in a fun and dynamic way. While performing the techniques you use your entire body while gaining flexibility and strength as well as burning calories and losing weight.

Safety is imperative at our gym, however accidents can happen like in any other activity. In Jiu Jitsu injuries are usually self inflicted due to the individual performing a technique incorrectly, but our instructors pay close attention and with each repetition the risk declines making Jiu Jitsu an extremely safe sport.

Jiu Jitsu has 2 grading methods depending on the age of the student. Up to 15 years old the student receives the belts white, yellow, orange and green. From 16 and onwards the belts are colored blue, purple, brown and black. At our academy we have a defined grading system where you prepare yourself for your belt exam with a determined amount of completed classes which varies from belt to belt.

The class begins with a warm up which also serves as physical conditioning varying every day among stretching, strength training, mobility, etc. After warming up comes the technical training with repetitions of self-defense, control positions, joint locks and choke movements to name a few of the many Jiu Jitsu techniques taught. And finally we have the free training more commonly known as “rolling”.

Cleanliness is a top priority. The SBJJD schools adhere to the strict standard of cleanliness and hygiene set by Six Blades Jiu Jitsu . Our School staff clean the facilities constantly, and all Six Blades Jiu Jitsu uniforms are washed regularly. Additionally, our mats are cleaned on a daily basis with a specially designed cleaning agent that neutralizes bacteria, fungus and odors without detriment to the equipment.

Six Blades Jiu Jitsu

The Six Blades Jiu Jitsu is a family-oriented martial arts school, whose founders have over 30 years of Jiu Jitsu experience teaching martial arts. Our philosophy is based on moral values we can acquire by sport practice, having a mission: Educate our students with determination, respect and discipline.

Students usually join our school between 3 and 6 years old. As they follow our training methods, attend classes, evaluation tests (skills and written), in-house tournaments and ranking, when they turn 14 years, they are ready to join the adult classes. Our In-House tournaments (not mandatory) are a way to test our student’s skills in a safe and fun environment, but in the same format as an official competition. If a student decides he or she wants to invest more time on their training, he can apply to be part of our competition team.

Six Blades Jiu Jitsu has one of the biggest networks in the Jiu Jitsu community, you may see multicultural people from all over the world sharing the mats with us. From kids to adults, Six Blades Jiu Jitsu has a class designed for YOU, no matter what level of knowledge you have or physical skills you have.

WOW! What an amazing experience at this Six Blades school. I came because of the reputation and experience of the head instructor but what really made me signed up was the love and passion coming from the whole staff and their professionalism and incredible methodology provided. The owner and instructors were very friendly and welcoming, and instruction was very thorough and detailed. As others have said, a family friendly environment and everyone made us (white belts) feel extremely welcome.
